What can a pack of crayons tell us about the future of museums?
A lot, surprisingly. Some background: Crayola made headlines a few years ago for doing something long overdue: they released products in a wide range of skin tones. Just like many other brands (looking at you Band-Aid), Crayola observed the racial reckoning of summer 2020 and thought, “wow, people come in shades besides beige!” Like many Gen X-ers, I grew up limited to tan or brown. So despite my mistrust of “corporate activism,” I’ll admit I grabbed a box of colored pencils when they came out.
